How to choose a juice extractor
Before buying a juice extractor you need to answer a few questions.
What does anyone who wants to buy a new juice extractor need to know?
Before including a new product in our offer, we test it severely. We evaluate the functioning, the workmanship, the quality of the materials, the practicality of use and also the originality in comparison with other products. You can be sure that whichever of our juicers you choose, don’t make a mistake.
- If we are not happy with the results of the device, we do not sell it.
- We are objective – we are happy to include in our offer every quality juice extractor that can be defined as such. Quality is the only thing that is important to us.
- It is essential to understand that more expensive equipment is not always the best. Read on to find a suitable extractor for you.
Before starting to choose a juice extractor, you need to think about your needs. Each juicer will be able to prepare juice from fruit and vegetables, the difference is in the quality, speed and yield of the juice. Here are some tips:
- There is no juice extractor that works for everything.
- For each type of fruit (hard / soft / juicy) a different type of squeezing is suitable.
- It is therefore essential to know your needs well and choose the extractor that best matches the ideal machine
- We can now review the requirements before selecting the extractor.
Which vegetables do we want to squeeze?
Unfortunately, only a few extractors are able to process all types of fruit and vegetables.
- Each extractor is able to squeeze common materials such as carrots, apples, turnips and citrus fruits, but the results will be different in the case of materials such as leafy vegetables, berries and stone fruits. Some fruits perform better than others, it also affects the ripening of the fruit. As an example, let’s compare a fresh and juicy apple with an apple that has been on the supermarket shelf or in our basement for a long time. At the end of the squeezing we get very different results.
- Generally more difficult to squeeze are tropical fruits such as pineapple, kiwi or mango for all extractors. Berries like raspberries, strawberries or cranberries can also be a challenge for the machine. The best results with both types are achieved with single auger appliances.
- Leafy greens and herbs are squeezed well with two-shaft appliances, although single-auger machines can process them very well with a slightly lower yield. Centrifugal appliances are absolutely unsuitable for these types.
- Berries, i.e. grapes or currants go well with one-shaft auger appliances or two-shaft appliances. Centrifuges have a very low yield in processing these types.
- Stone fruits are more difficult to process due to their soft fibers as they create a rather creamy juice. These fruits are good as an additional base for other juices, because their fibers clog the extractor filter and the squeezing becomes long and ineffective. The same goes for kiwifruit and mango.
- Apples such as apples and pears can work very well with all appliances, as long as they are still fresh and hard. For floury and overripe fruits it is better to use centrifuges.
- Vegetables also work well without major problems with all appliances, the only difference is in the yield and clarity of the juice.
- Citrus fruits are great for juice, there is nothing to add here. We just have to repeat that the yield and the amount of fiber in the juice will differ depending on the machine chosen.
It is up to you to decide which fruit and vegetables you want to squeeze most often and which materials will only be additional. Yoga can improve health
How much juice do we want to prepare?
It is an important criterion.
- If you want to prepare large quantities of juice in a process, centrifuges with large filling holes will be ideal. The processing will take a very short time compared to low-rpm devices.
- Rpm machines are slower and have a continuous working time limited to 30 minutes. In this time they can prepare 4 liters of a good juice and this is usually more than enough for a normal family.
- Attention, some extractors have a so-called “closed system” – the pulp does not come out, but remains inside the appliance. As soon as the machine is full, the squeezing must stop.
How often do I want to use the Machine?
Usually the joy of having bought a common extractor disappears very soon, since maintenance is long and complex, also because you have to clean the machine after each use.
If, therefore, you are not part of the group of enthusiasts who willingly sacrifice their time to squeezing, but still want to squeeze the fruits regularly, perhaps every day for breakfast, you must look for an extractor that is easily washed.
How important is my health to me?
It is an expressive but important question. Extractors bought in a network of regular stores usually end up the same – given their complicated maintenance, nobody uses them and their yield results are tragic. We can say that the money for the purchase of fruit and vegetables is wasted.
The original plan of regularly drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices is forgotten and this is a shame.
How does the quality extractor help you?
- Its purchase price is higher, but its higher yield pays off gradually, as you don’t need many raw materials to squeeze.
- Its maintenance is easy and will last you many times longer than an extractor bought in a network of shops.
- The squeezing will become fun and not torture.
- The low-speed extractors produce, thanks to the delicate processing, the live juice, full of vitamins and enzymes and minerals.
- Basic summary of extractors
- You should already know your preferences. You know what you want to squeeze and in what quantities. Now is the right time to choose the concrete type of extractor. The following types are found on the market:
- Centrifugal extractors – the most important feature is their speed. These extractors prepare juices from hard raw materials such as apples, turnips or carrots at blazing speed. The yield is lower and the juice oxidizes quickly. Unfortunately, some products cannot be processed with this technology.
- Screw extractors – juice extractors with a shaft are the most versatile, they can squeeze a wide range of raw materials, cleaning is easy and the juice is excellent. These devices are often able to do other processes as well.
- Double shaft extractors – these are best for leafy, root vegetables and normal materials such as apples, citrus fruits or grapes. The squeezing of very juicy products can be as long or even impossible as the fruit of pineapple, however the yield and purity of the juice are truly unique. As a negative factor we note the cleaning that requires more effort.
- Mechanical extractors – a good solution for occasional juicing. If you do not mind the lower performance, these extractors prepare the juices with quality equal to that of the extractors at low revolutions, only it takes a little more effort.
- The juicer – we have two types of juicers, electric and manual. They are the ideal tool for squeezing citrus fruits without removing the peel and pomegranates without extracting the seeds. , manual and electric, are very simple to use and easy to clean. Obviously these products are not suitable for other fruit or vegetables.
